Are you passionate about helping children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically?
We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic Nurture Support Assistant to join our friendly primary school team. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference to pupils who need additional support to succeed.

Position: Nurture Support Assistant
Contract: Full-time
Location: Nelson
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026

As a Nurture Support Assistant, you will work closely with our SENDCo, class teachers, and pastoral team to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for pupils. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Running or assisting with small‑group nurture interventions
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
  • Providing 1:1 support where needed
  • Working collaboratively with staff to monitor progress and adapt strategies
  • Creating calm, structured spaces that promote emotional wellbeing

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is warm, empathetic, and child‑centred
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Has experience working with children with additional needs (desired but not essential)
  • Understands the principles of nurture and emotional wellbeing in schools
  • Is proactive, flexible, and a great team player
  • Communicates confidently with staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Has strong behaviour‑support and de‑escalation skills (training can be provided)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a primary school or nurture-based role is beneficial
  • Relevant training (e.g. Nurture Group training, ELSA, SEMH support) is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
