About the Role
A warm and welcoming primary school in the Wigan area (WN5) is seeking a dedicated Reception Teacher to join their Early Years team starting in September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive school that places a strong emphasis on early childhood development and child-centred learning. The school is looking for a nurturing and creative teacher who can provide a strong foundation for children as they begin their primary education journey.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the ability to create a safe, stimulating environment where each individual child can thrive.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Experience teaching in EYFS, ideally in a Reception setting.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS Framework and early childhood development.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons in line with the EYFS curriculum.
- Support children’s learning through a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, and colleagues to support each child’s individual needs.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere where all children feel valued and safe.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, EAL, or speech and language needs.
- Knowledge of early intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with phonics schemes.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures in the early years.
