Pupil Referral Unit Staff – West Yorkshire

Locations: Leeds | Bradford | Halifax | Huddersfield | Wakefield
Pay: £90 – £210 per day (role dependent)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Temp-to-Perm

We are recruiting a range of dedicated staff for Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) across West Yorkshire, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, and barriers to learning.

We have exciting opportunities available for:

  • Teachers (QTS/QTLS – all subjects)

  • Teaching Assistants & Behaviour Support Staff

  • Inclusion Support Workers

  • Progress Tutors & Mentors

  • Behaviour Specialists / Learning Mentors

You’ll be part of a supportive, trauma-informed team that focuses on relationships, resilience, and restorative practice. No two days are the same — you’ll be motivating, guiding, and empowering young people to succeed academically and emotionally.

Your Role May Include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis with SEMH or behavioural needs.

  • Delivering targeted interventions and academic support.

  • Implementing behaviour management and de-escalation strategies (Team Teach desirable).

  • Building trusting relationships and promoting positive engagement in learning.

Requirements:

  • Experience in education, youth work, or behaviour support (school, care, or community).

  • Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and positive behaviour support.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

  • Full-time availability and commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.

  • Teaching qualification or relevant SEN/TA training desirable (depending on role).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
