Psychology Graduate – SEMH Support Role

Full Time | Term Time Only

A specialist SEMH school in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychology graduate to join their team on a full-time, term-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with a strong interest in working with vulnerable students, particularly those with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, using trauma-informed practice to help create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
The Role:
The successful candidate will:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with complex emotional and behavioural needs
-
Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff
-
Promote emotional wellbeing and model appropriate behaviour
-
Apply trauma-informed strategies to support student engagement
-
Assist in maintaining a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment
-
Be a positive role model, encouraging personal and academic growth
Person Specification:
The school is looking for someone who:
-
Holds a degree in Psychology (or a related field)
-
Demonstrates a strong interest in supporting children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs
-
Shows compassion, resilience, and a willingness to support students facing emotional challenges
-
Understands or is keen to learn about trauma-informed practice
-
Has excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport

Experience working with children or young people (in any setting) is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
