Position: Sports Coach

Contract: Full-Time
An established Alternative Provision setting in Liverpool is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sports Coach to join their supportive team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work with Key Stage 3 and 4 learners who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have faced challenges in mainstream education.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inclusive physical activity sessions that promote not only physical health but also teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence.
About the Setting:
The provision offers a vocational and supportive learning environment, featuring dedicated classrooms for a range of practical subjects including a large workshop and salon, as well as well-equipped teaching rooms for Maths, English, and other subjects.
Students enjoy a nurturing atmosphere with access to freshly prepared meals from a mobile food van each lunchtime. The setting boasts excellent outcomes, with 98% of learners achieving qualifications and 80% progressing into Further Education last year.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver a variety of sports and physical education sessions tailored to students with SEMH needs.

Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, confidence, and emotional wellbeing through physical activity.

Build trusting relationships with learners to help break down barriers to engagement.

Work closely with staff to support behaviour management and individual learning plans.

Take an active role in the wider school community, contributing to enrichment and engagement strategies.
Essential Requirements:

Experience coaching children or young people, ideally in an educational, youth work, or alternative provision setting.

An understanding of SEMH needs and how to support young people with complex backgrounds.

Confident in managing behaviour and motivating disengaged learners.

Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for making a difference through sport and physical activity.

Resilient, adaptable, and committed to supporting the holistic development of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
