Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30 to 3:30pm)

Weekly Salary: £440 to £475 

Contract: Temporary (opportunities to go perm)

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to take on a full-time Teaching Assistant role in a well-regarded Special Educational Needs (SEN) primary school located in the Coventry area. This inclusive school caters for pupils aged 4 to 16 with a diverse range of needs including autism, social and emotional challenges, and learning difficulties.

About the Role:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 3:30pm

  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Supporting children with additional needs, including aspects of personal care

  • Collaborating with experienced staff to provide a nurturing and structured environment

This opportunity is ideal for a Psychology graduate looking to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and build a foundation for a future in education, clinical work, or child psychology.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Psychology or related discipline (or relevant experience)

  • A strong interest in working with young people with additional needs

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Patience, resilience, and empathy

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting teaching staff with the planning and delivery of lessons

  • Leading small group interventions

  • Providing focused 1:1 support to pupils with specific learning needs

  • Supporting emotional regulation and social development

  • Monitoring pupil progress and reporting back to teaching staff
