PRU Teaching Assistant

The Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit located in Middlesbrough is searching for a Teaching Assistant to work within its small class groups of secondary (age 11-16) pupils who are unable, for various reasons, to continue in mainstream education.

This role will be held on a full time basis and will commence from January, it will be ongoing for the academic year however there is strong potential for this to continue further should you be successful in the role.

The position will involve working with a small group of students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The candidate will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as being enthusiastic and a positive role model for the students! You will be working with children from a mix of backgrounds, including children in looked after care. You will play a large role in the monitoring of students progress and development both in terms of their academic and personal achievements. 

The day will consist of supporting one subject teacher throughout the day working with several classes of up to 10 pupils at one time. The successful candidate will be confident with behaviour management and will have experience responding to challenging behaviour. You will be required to work from 8:30-3:30 five days per week.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
