Primary School Behaviour Mentor
Location: South Bristol
Frequency: 3-5 Days per Week
Teaching Personnel is pleased to be recruiting for a 1:1 Behaviour Mentor to support a Primary pupil with additional learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs within one of our established partner schools in South Bristol.
This role is well‑suited to individuals with experience or interest in psychology, counselling, child development, or therapeutic support, who are committed to improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistent 1:1 support to a pupil requiring targeted intervention to access learning.
- Assist the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in classroom activities.
- Implement strategies outlined by class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Support the development of communication, social interaction, and independent learning skills.
- Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reports or behaviour/support plans where required.
- Maintain effective communication with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents/carers.
- Provide assistance during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times across the school day.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Background or training in psychology, counselling, mental health support, child development, or related fields.
- Experience working with children aged 4 to 11 in educational, care, therapeutic, or support settings.
- Strong understanding of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or trauma‑informed practice.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when managing dysregulation or challenging behaviour.
- A reflective, empathetic approach with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
