What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The NTP was created to support schools in helping pupils catch-up on lost learning during the national lockdown. However, the programme also aims to provide a longer-term contribution to closing the attainment gap.

Subsidised tuition


The NTP subsidise 15-hour programmes (blocks) of tuition for school children. 75% of the programme costs are paid for with NTP funding with 25% covered by the school.

15 hour blocks

Tuition must be arranged in 15-hour blocks. Where possible, tuition is expected to be in small groups of up to three children.

Our tutor toolkit

Teaching Personnel are an approved provider. We provide qualified teachers and experienced tutors to deliver our programmes, along with a comprehensive set of services to help ensure success. Our tutors undertake comprehensive CPD accredited tutor training ‘the tutor toolkit’.

We must have the following experience:

  • Current primary curriculum 
  • Working in Primary Schools
  • Acceptable/relevant qualifications
  • Working with disadvantaged pupils
  • Maths - White Rose/Power Maths (Desirable not required)
  • English - SPAG

To work as a tutor through the NTP you must be willing to complete FREE training through Teaching Personnel, such as:

  • CPD accredited tutor training
  • Training on our toolkit
  • Level 3 Safeguarding training
  • PREVENT training
  • Induction with Teaching Personnel

Hours can range from part time to full time and all schools are looking to start ASAP!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
