Job Opportunity: Autism Support Worker – Trafford Primary Schools
Location: Trafford, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £13.50 – £14.50 an hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: After October half-term
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism? We’re looking for dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Workers to join a network of welcoming primary schools across Trafford.
About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) to access learning, develop social skills, and thrive in a nurturing school environment. You’ll work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver tailored support plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC
- Implement EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with sensory needs and emotional regulation
- Liaise with families and professionals to ensure consistent support
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children with autism (school, care, or community settings)
- Understanding of autism and related communication needs (e.g., PECS, Makaton, TEACCH)
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
- A DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
