Pre school (nursery) teaching assistant LE8

A LE8 Preschool are looking to appoint a Teaching assistant to start asap or for the start of the school term. The Preschool is recently built with a supportive staffing and attached to a larger than average mainstream primary school. The role will be from 12 - 6 and 52 weeks a year.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • planning and supervising activities like arts and crafts, music and cooking
  • helping children to learn numeracy and language skills through games
  • taking children on outings
  • possible feeding and changing
  • observing children and making notes to write reports
  • making sure children are safe and well
  • With experience, you could become a key worker for one or more children. You'll monitor their progress and share information about their development with parents or carers.

The successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • the ability to assist the class teacher to plan effective and challenging programmes of study for all children which is set at each child's individual level
  • A good knowledge of the Foundation Phase and the EYFS Curriculum;
  • An ability to work with small groups of children, both indoors and outdoors, to support their learning;
  • An ability to establish good working relationships with the children, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs;
  • That they are able to supervise and support children, ensuring their safety and access to learning;
  • How to work as an important member of the pre school team, helping with the display of children's work and undertaking a range of tasks including photocopying, laminating and filing;
  • How to work independently and to develop child initiated learning;
  • How to track pupil progress within the programmes of study;
  • That they are able to use and apply whole school child protection procedures;
  • How to be a vital member of the reception and the staff team.

You will also need a DBS which is Child Workforce ONLY which in registered on the Update Service. Teaching Personnel are able to support and guide you through the process of applying for your DBS;
