Learning Mentor
Teaching personnel are looking for a learning mentor to work in a nurturing and supporting SEMH provision within Plymouth. The role will start November 2022 with working hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm.
The applicant will be working with young people with a medical or mental health needs who are unable to access mainstream education. The role will be rewarding as you will be promoting self-esteem and working closely with the pupils, creating a safe and engaging environment where they can gain the abilities to succeed.
As a learning mentor (SEMH), you would assist with adapted lessons and teaching materials suited to the young people’s working levels. Due to the nature of the provision the successful applicant would manage class behaviour, motivate and encourage all pupils to engage with learning.
Requirements:
- Compassion and empathy
- A calm and adaptable personality
- High emotional resilience
- Experience in nursing, mental health work or youth work
- Level 3 Driver

To work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £38 plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
