Teaching Personnel is the UK’s leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school’s in Poole. It is a Secondary school that offers a large variety of vocational courses for students. The average class is up to six students and it is a school that encourage and deliver outdoor education.

What the role involves:

• working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
• working alongside a team of support staff in class
• working on a 1:1 basis with students

This is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:

• have experience working within a school setting
• have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties
• be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
• have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
• Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
• Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
• be nurturing and enthusiastic
• have experience in delivering outdoor education/experience within the sports industry

The successful candidate must:

• be able to deliver outdoor education and on-site work
• have the ability to manage challenging behaviour

This position is ideal for qualified teachers, NQT’s or someone looking to gain experience working in a school with Special Educational Needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
