An alternative Provision in Bradford are seeking a full-time Pastoral Teaching Assistant this term.

Our client is a co-educational school catering for a total of 80 pupils of secondary school age (11 to 19) who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The provision are seeking Pastoral Support and require a Teaching Assistant to provide a service that gives help and support to students as well as providing information, advice and guidance. The successful applicant will work in close partnership with teachers, parents/carers and other specialist agencies. You will work with individual pupils and will identify any concerns or issues at the earliest possible opportunity and remove any barriers to learning which may be preventing students from reaching their potential.

The Pastoral Support Team commonly offers help and support in the following areas:

• Behaviour support/management
• Emotional help (including anger management and counselling)
• Academic support (including intervention work, extended work experience specialised timetables and programmes)
• Restorative Approaches
• Peer mediation
• Links to specialist external agencies when needed

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant/Behaviour Support Worker who is keen to take on a pastoral role and who is passionate about working with disaffected young people who can display verbally and physically aggressive behaviour towards peers and towards adults. You will be able to successfully de-escalate young people in crisis and be confident in dealing with challenging situations.
