Pastoral Support Officer
Job description
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a compassionate, proactive, and organised Pastoral Support Officer to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Folkestone. This is a vital role focused on promoting student well-being, improving behaviour, and ensuring that every learner is supported in their personal and academic journey.
The Role:
As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will work closely with students, staff, and families to:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

Monitor attendance, behaviour, and safeguarding concerns.

Support the school’s pastoral team in implementing behaviour and inclusion policies.

Liaise with external agencies and parents/carers as needed.

Contribute to a positive and safe school culture by building strong relationships with students and staff.
Requirements:
-
Experience in a pastoral, youth work, or student support role within an educational or care setting.
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-
A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to student wellbeing and behaviour management.

An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.

A DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
