Job description

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a compassionate, proactive, and organised Pastoral Support Officer to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Folkestone. This is a vital role focused on promoting student well-being, improving behaviour, and ensuring that every learner is supported in their personal and academic journey.


The Role:

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will work closely with students, staff, and families to:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and safeguarding concerns.

  • Support the school’s pastoral team in implementing behaviour and inclusion policies.

  • Liaise with external agencies and parents/carers as needed.

  • Contribute to a positive and safe school culture by building strong relationships with students and staff.


Requirements:

  • Experience in a pastoral, youth work, or student support role within an educational or care setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to student wellbeing and behaviour management.

  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.

  • A DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
