Job Title: Part-Time SENCO Assistant (Psychology Student)

Location: Liverpool (L9)

Hours: Part-time (Flexible hours during school term)

Salary: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience

Start Date: 04.11.24

This is an excellent opportunity for a psychology student with a keen interest in child development, special educational needs (SEN), and inclusive education. As a SENCO Assistant, you will support the SENCO in planning, implementing, and reviewing strategies for children with additional learning needs, gaining valuable experience in the field of education and psychology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the SENCO in providing tailored support to children with SEN.
  • Observing and supporting individual students in the classroom to help with learning and behavior strategies.
  • Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and materials for SEN interventions.
  • Supporting with the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Helping with data collection and monitoring students' progress.
  • Liaising with staff, parents, and external professionals as directed by the SENCO.
  • Attending relevant staff meetings and training sessions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A psychology student (undergraduate or postgraduate) with an interest in educational psychology, special educational needs, or child development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • An eagerness to learn and contribute positively to the school environment.
  • Prior experience working with children (e.g., volunteering, tutoring) is a plus but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
