Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Part-Time
Location: Ilford, Essex
Salary: £20,556 pro rata 
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 3:00pm)
Start Date: September 2025

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a vibrant primary school in Ilford. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENDCO to provide tailored support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and other additional needs. Your role will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans.

  • Providing pastoral care, including personal care and mealtime support where needed.

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents.

  • Supporting classroom activities and promoting an inclusive learning environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Essential:

    • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND.

    • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

    • A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

    • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • Desirable:

    • NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.

    • Training in Makaton, ELKLAN, or Positive Handling.

    • Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments or speech and language needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
