Nurture Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a TA to work within a nurture position in a KS1 class. Our client school are seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with SEMH needs. This child requires support from a specialist, who has at least two years of experience working with children who suffer from anxiety, mental health needs and social difficulties. You will be a friendly face within school and will assist with morning lessons and lunch time (8:30am start and finishing at 1pm, Monday to Friday). You will use your knowledge to find new ways for the pupil to manage their behaviour and re-engage them with their learning. You will be consistent, understanding, approachable and provide a stable atmosphere. 

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • At least two years of experience supporting children with additional needs
  • A good knowledge of SEMH needs
  • A real passion and level of care for vulnerable students
  • A good knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
  • The ability to 'hit the ground running' and learn from others around you

We are hoping for the successful candidate to commence working from after Easter, providing all relevant vetting checks are cleared. The school are based in Truro and are looking forward to welcoming a new member of the team. The SENCO will be on hand to offer support and you will be given an in-depth induction and a chance to get to know the student. You will need to work collaboratively with the class teacher and offer support with the whole class as well as your 1:1.
