Maths Teacher
Job description
Maths Teacher – Sunderland Secondary School September 2026 | MPS (£32,916 – £51,048 per annum) | Long-term supply
Early in your teaching career and looking for somewhere to grow? This one's for you.
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Maths Teacher for a secondary school in Sunderland, with a September 2026 start. This is a long-term supply position — and it's particularly well suited to an Early Career Teacher looking to build experience, develop their practice, and establish themselves in a school where they can make a real impact.
Long-term supply is an increasingly popular route for ECTs. You get the consistency of a permanent role — same school, same students, same colleagues — with the added support of Teaching Personnel behind you. And if the placement goes well, permanent opportunities can follow.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Planning and delivering Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Stretching and supporting students of all abilities
- Assessing progress and adapting your teaching accordingly
- Maintaining high expectations of behaviour and engagement
- Contributing to department meetings and whole-school events
- Upholding the school's safeguarding responsibilities
You'll need:
- QTS or equivalent — ECTs strongly encouraged to apply
- A degree in Maths or a closely related discipline
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for making Maths accessible
- Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a willingness to learn
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
What Teaching Personnel offers:
- MPS/UPS salary — £32,916 to £51,048 depending on experience
- Weekly pay via PAYE
- Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
- Free CPD and Early Career development support
- A genuine route into permanent employment
Contract: Long-term supply | Start: September 2026 | Location: Sunderland
