Maths Intervention Tutor – Central Manchester

Location: Central Manchester (close to major transport links)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time or part-time (flexible depending on availability)
Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (with flexibility)
Pay: £20 - £30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

About the Role:
A high-performing secondary school in Manchester is seeking a skilled Maths Intervention Tutor to provide targeted support to pupils who are working below age-related expectations in Maths. This role is ideal for recent Maths graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced educators looking for a flexible teaching opportunity focused on pupil progress rather than classroom management.

Main Duties:

  • Plan and deliver bespoke Maths sessions to small groups of KS3 and KS4 students

  • Work alongside class teachers to identify learning gaps and monitor pupil progress

  • Use data to inform intervention planning and adapt teaching styles as needed

  • Provide structured exam preparation for Year 11 pupils

  • Help build student confidence in numeracy and problem-solving skills

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in Mathematics or related subject

  • Previous experience tutoring or teaching secondary students

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum for Maths (KS3 & KS4)

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students

  • QTS is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
