LSA needed for SEN School near Thurrock

We are seeking to appoint Teaching Assistants to support pupils (sometimes 1:1) in mixed-age specialist classes.

The position will be to start immediately and will be a full time, long term position. Previous experience in a school setting and/or experience working with special needs is essential.

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should have a proven track record in supporting students with complex needs as part of a team and working positively in a demanding, multi-disciplinary environment.

Below is an overview of the role and duties

  • Support the complex specific needs of specified pupils - physical, emotional, medical or behavioural
  • Support pupil(s) access to the curriculum, their learning in particular lessons and their progress towards specific individual targets
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the specific learning needs of identified pupils
  • Support pupils during break times including, where appropriate, the development of games and play
  • Take appropriate action to identify, analyse and minimise any risks to health, safety and security in the immediate working environment
  • Support food hygiene at meal times
  • Assist in the arrival and departure of pupils to school and lessons and transfer around the school prepare and layout of materials, equipment and resources in classrooms and teaching spaces
  • Support pupil(s) access to the curriculum by differentiating instructions and resources and supporting language development/needs
  • Supervise pupils using specialist resources, equipment, and/or facilities on and off school premises
  • Supervise the work of a group of pupils, directed by a teacher or another teaching assistant
  • Provide praise and encouragement to pupils to recognise and promote positive pupil behaviour in accordance with school discipline and behaviour policies

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
