Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of our partner secondary school in Stockport to recruit for a Literacy Teaching Assistant to join them from September 2018.

This position represents a unique opportunity for a Literacy Teaching Assistant to work within a secondary school to raise the attainment of literacy across the whole school:

• Full time Literacy Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

• Located on the border of Stockport and Manchester

• Providing support in all areas of the English department

• To work with identified pupils to improve literacy skills

• Earn up to £1300 per month

With this secondary school looking to raise the attainment of literacy across the whole school, an opportunity has emerged for an English and Literacy Teaching Assistant to their team in the new academic year. This new position will serve to compliment the existing staff within the English department, whereby the incoming Teaching Assistant will support the learning and development of pupils within their English studies.

The incoming Literacy Teaching Assistant will join a large English department consisting of twelve experienced teachers. Your role as a Literacy Teaching Assistant will be to support identified pupils to ensure their literacy is at the age appropriate level for secondary school. The main focus of the role initially will be to work with the new Year 7 cohort to help them make the transition from Primary school. This will involve providing small group intervention using 'Read, Write, Inc' and other literacy programmes.

Our partner school is a popular choice within the local area and is regularly over-subscribed. A large proportion of the pupils who attend are from White British backgrounds. In the school's 2017 Ofsted report, Senior Leaders were praised for their utilisation of funding to raise the standards of English within the school.

Located in the Romiley area of Stockport, the school is easily accessible from the surrounding areas such as Bredbury, Marple and Egerton via the M60. Gee Cross, Hyde and the other areas of Tameside are only a short drive away. There are also direct bus links to the school for those requiring public transport.
