Job description

Have you got experience in supporting or teaching basic life skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting?

Are you looking for a flexible working role with an opportunity to work in an education environment?

At Teaching Personnel we work with a number of client schools which support students who have mild to severe special educational needs. The goal in these schools is to build as much confidence and independence as possible, to aid the student with the skills to care for themselves in whatever capacity they are able to do so.

Many of these life skills can include, personal and general hygiene, diet and cooking, household management, budgeting finances and other basic skills.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to support secondary age students, who may have needs such as Autism and Downs Syndrome, whilst they study and practise these skills.
Ideally, if you have a knowledge or background of any of these things or personally take an interest in them, as well as experience in care or education, you would excel in this role.
A knowledge of special educational needs would be preferable but not essential, however you must be open, understanding and patient when dealing with the different and unique needs of each student.

This role is available monday to friday 8.30am-3.30pm, on a contracted basis. This can be anything from one term to a full school year, with opportunities for contract extension or to become permanent staff for those who work well in the school.

Please be aware that all applicants must have a child only DBS which is registered to the update service, or be willing to obtain one.

  • Online access to payslips, diary and time sheets
