Qualified Level 3 Teaching Assiatant
Start Date: 13th April 2026
Location: South Birmingham
Qualification: Level 3 TA or equivalent
Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside multiple Secondary Schools within South Birmingham who are looking to appoint Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistants on an ASAP start contract. The ideal candidate will hold a TA qualification (ideally level 3 however schools will take level 2 qualified with prior Secondary School based experience) and have ample experience working within UK based Secondary Schools.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in planning lessons, preparing classroom resources, and developing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Deliver interventions, lead small group interventions, or work 1:1 with pupils, providing both academic support and pastoral care.
- Maintain high standards of behavior, set up learning environments, and supervise children on outings or during activities.
- Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, feeding back directly to teachers and parents.
- Cover classes in the teacher's absence (planned or unplanned), supervise other support staff, and assist with training.
The ideal candidate:
- Will hold a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Will have prior experience working within UK based Secondary Schools.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills, evidenced by GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
- Knowledge of SEND, including experience with Autism (ASD), ADHD, and moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD).
- Demonstrated ability to support children with complex learning or physical needs.
- Proven capability to lead interventions and work with students on a 1:1 basis, including lone working.
- A flexible approach, willing to adapt to changing needs, support in different areas (e.g., arts, PE, forest school), and cover lessons in the teacher’s absence.
- A nurturing and resilient approach to working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviour.
- The ability to work independently, manage classroom tasks without constant supervision, and anticipate needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
