About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated SENDCo to join a welcoming secondary school in Birmingham on a full-time, long-term agency basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to lead and manage the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring all learners are supported to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school in line with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Identify and assess students with additional needs, implementing effective support strategies
  • Develop, monitor, and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Work closely with teaching staff to adapt curriculum and teaching approaches
  • Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and professionals to support student progress
  • Manage and support a team of teaching assistants and support staff
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment across the school

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to work towards it
  • Proven experience working as a SENCo or within a SEND leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
