Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

About Us:

Are you a dedicated and compassionate professional with a passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a team in a specialist SEMH school in the Wirral area. The school caters to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), and they are committed to providing the highest level of care and education to help them thrive.

The Role:

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting both students and staff, ensuring that each child receives the individual attention and tailored support they need to succeed. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in Learning: Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, working with small groups or one-on-one with students to reinforce learning and help them overcome any barriers they face.
  • Empathy and Care: Show empathy and understanding towards students with SEMH needs, building trusting relationships that support their emotional and academic development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and multi-agency teams to ensure that the care and educational plans for each student are fully implemented and effective.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in managing classroom behaviour, using positive reinforcement and other strategies to support students' emotional well-being.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in working with children with special educational needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Proven experience working in school settings is essential. Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly SEMH, is highly desired.
  • Empathy and Patience: You have a genuine passion for helping children with SEMH needs and can approach challenges with patience and understanding.
  • Team Player: You are able to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each student.
  • Adaptability: You are flexible and able to adapt to the varying needs of students, ensuring that each child receives the best possible care and education.
  • Qualifications: HLTA status or equivalent qualification is required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
