SEMH Learning Support Assistant – New Forest

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Start Date: ASAP (following completion of vetting checks)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (via Teaching Personnel)
Location: New Forest, Hampshire

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
A specialist school in the New Forest is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team as soon as possible. The school caters for pupils aged 8–16 years who require a nurturing, structured environment to help them achieve both academically and personally.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support programmes

  • Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, positive learning environment


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, in care, or within a sports-based environment

  • A calm, consistent and resilient approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to engage and motivate pupils with complex needs

  • Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm

  • An enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
