Role: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Year 6)
Pay: £14.25 per hour

A specialist SEMH and SEN school in Farnborough is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role involves providing consistent, individual support to help the pupil remain engaged with learning, manage emotions, and build confidence within the classroom environment. The school offers a structured and nurturing setting, with small classes of around six pupils and strong LSA support, enabling staff to provide personalised support.

The provision operates across two buildings within walking distance of each other, supporting pupils aged 4–16 with a range of SEMH and SEN needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs

  • Support the pupil’s emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement with learning

  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies

  • Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment

  • Build a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong relationship-building and behaviour support skills

  • Experience working in schools or specialist settings (desirable)

A Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service is required, or applicants must be willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
