Special Needs Teaching Assistants – Basingstoke
Specialist schools in the Basingstoke area are seeking dedicated, caring and enthusiastic individuals to join their teams as Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs). These roles offer a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them learn, grow and achieve their potential in a safe, positive and inclusive environment.
About the Role
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils aged 2–19 who have autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication and interaction needs, or physical and sensory impairments.
Every pupil is unique, and your role will be to provide tailored support to meet individual learning and developmental goals. You will:

Support classroom activities and adapt resources for different learning levels

Encourage communication using visual symbols, signing or assistive technology
-
Promote sensory engagement and structured learning through play and exploration
-
Help pupils build independence, confidence and social interaction skills
-
Provide personal care or mobility assistance where required, ensuring comfort and safety
You’ll be part of a committed, friendly team that values empathy, creativity and teamwork. Full induction and ongoing training are provided to help you develop the specialist skills needed to succeed in this role.

Experience in education, care, or youth support is beneficial but not essential. Most importantly, you should be passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve their best.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
