Learning Support Assistant - Derbyshire

We are currently recruiting for one of our client secondary schools located in the Derbyshire area who are looking to recruit a learning support assistant on a temporary basis to cover a long term absence. The suitable candidate must have recent experience of working with students with a range of SEN, aged 11 - 16 years old. 

  • Do you have experience of supporting pupils with SEN?
  • Do you have experience working within students on a 1:1 basis?
  • Are you confident in working with children who have learning difficulties?

If so then this could be the perfect role for you! 

You will be working with secondary aged pupils across key stage 3 and key stage 4. Your day will be varied, supporting children in the classroom and assisting with integrating them back into a school routine after the lockdown period.

You will be required to work with pupils on a one to one basis as well as groups of children. You will be required to support these pupils both in and out of the classroom and assist them with their needs as well as their academic school work.

What is required from you

  • Teaching assistant qualification, educational based degree or at least 6 months experience working with children
  • Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour
  • Experienced working with secondary aged pupils from 11 - 16
  • Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills
  • Can provide 2 references which can comment on your ability to work with children
  • Have a calm, nurturing approach with clear expectations
  • Be confident building positive relationships with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them progress both socially and academically

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
