Learning Support Assistant

Full-time Learning Support Assistant required at the earliest convenience.

The school seeking to appoint for this position is a Catholic High School that holds an excellent reputation within the local community.

The Learning Support Assistant position is ideal for Graduates and experienced Teaching Assistants that wish to pursue a career in education. This is an extremely rewarding position whereby you can make a positive impact on students and their learning and progress in school.

  • Full time Learning Support Assistant – Required ASAP
  • Supporting the learning of students who require additional guidance during lessons
  • Pay in line with previous experiences (between GBP1000 - GBP1200 per month)
  • Twelve month temporary position in the first instance, opportunity to secure a permanent position following the initial successes.

The school wish to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their Support team in readiness for the schools return from the October half term break. Senior Leaders within the school have identified that they will require additional Learning Support Assistants after recently reviewing the progress of pupils that had enrolled to the school this academic year.

The role

  • Working with students on a 1:1 basis supporting them in core subject areas (Maths, English and Science)
  • Running small intervention classes with students that are not making expected progress.
  • Helping to manage the behaviour of individuals, ensuring that they remain on task and are focused during lessons.
  • Working closely with Heads of Department and class teachers to ensure pupils are making constant improvements and working towards their progress targets.

Our client school is of Catholic faith and is located in Wigan. The school currently has around 1000 pupils on roll which is larger than the average school in the area, and was graded ‘Good’ in their most recent Ofsted report. The school is located close to Standish and offers excellent public transport links to the Wigan town centre.
