Learning Support Assistant

Do you have previous experience working with disengaged students or pupils with SEN requirements? Are you looking for an introduction to a full-time role from September 2019?

If so, Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a Learning Support on behalf of one of our key client secondary schools that is located in the Wigan LEA. The post being advertised is a full-time role starting on a temporary basis initially however there will be an opportunity to earn a permanent contract later in the academic year.

  • Learning Support Assistant - Full-time role starting in September 2019
  • Competitive pay - Earning potential of around £1200-£1300 per month
  • Required to work with identified students in a mainstream classroom environment
  • Previous experience working with young people within an educational capacity is highly desirable.

The incoming staff member will be require to work closely with the schools Inclusion and Special Education Needs departments fulfilling a range of key duties including;

  • Supporting disaffected students particularly in Years 7 - 11 on the SEN register to access learning both in and outside the formal classroom setting.
  • Providing a range of specific support strategies/activities to re-engage underachieving students, particularly key identified groups.

It has been highlighted by the Deputy Headteacher that they would like to appoint a Learning Support Assistant with previous experience working in a secondary school environment or supporting individuals with SEN requirements or similar. Applicants must be willing to go the extra mile for their students and have a commitment to bettering the outcomes of pupils that they are working with.

Found on the outskirts of the Wigan LEA, this school boarders Leigh town centre and is easily accessible from the surrounding areas; Wigan, Salford, Bolton and Manchester via the East Lancashire road. The school currently has around 950 pupils on roll, there are a average amount of EAL pupils on roll and those who are eligible for free school meals.
