Learning Support Assistant - Supply

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a primary setting? A welcoming school in Weymouth is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work part-time on a supply basis from September 2025.

This role is ideal for someone who is nurturing, reliable, and enthusiastic about helping young learners, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), to thrive in their learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated activities

  • Promote engagement, confidence and social interaction among pupils

  • Use a calm and consistent approach to manage behaviour positively

  • Support the emotional and academic development of pupils

  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working in a primary school or educational setting (paid or voluntary)

  • Understanding of SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, or Speech and Language needs

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills

  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn

  • A child-only enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
