We are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a dynamic school in Torquay, Devon.

Position Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students within a welcoming and inclusive school environment. Your primary responsibility will be to work alongside teachers and other support staff to ensure that every student receives the assistance they need to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement tailored learning plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support during classroom activities and lessons.
  • Assist students with tasks, assignments, and assessments, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to create a nurturing and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Regularly assess student progress and communicate observations to teachers and parents.
  • Attend school meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in an educational or supportive role is preferred.
  • Possess patience, empathy, and a strong desire to help students overcome challenges.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of various learning needs and support strategies is advantageous.
