Learning Support Assistant
Location - Southampton
Contract – Part Time and Full Time
Start date – November 2025
We’re looking for an empathetic, responsive, and positive Learning Support Assistant to join one of our welcoming Primary schools in the Southampton area. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to help children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
As a key member of the classroom team, you’ll work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support for pupils who may need extra help to succeed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a genuine difference in their school experience.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Experience supporting children in a primary school or similar educational setting
- A positive, patient, and nurturing approach to learning and wellbeing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to adapt to different learning needs and classroom environments
- Reliability, empathy, and a proactive attitude
- A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Help prepare classroom materials and maintain an organised learning space
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing among pupils
- Promote independence and confidence in learners
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and stimulating school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
