This rewarding opportunity offers the chance to support pupils with a wide range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, present with challenging behaviour, or face barriers to emotional regulation and engagement in mainstream education.
The school provides a structured and nurturing environment, underpinned by a highly personalised approach to learning. Staff play a pivotal role in fostering a safe, consistent, and respectful setting where each pupil can feel valued and empowered to achieve.
Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils in building self-esteem, resilience, and constructive peer relationships

Follow individual support plans and behaviour management strategies, in collaboration with senior leaders and external professionals
-
Contribute to the planning and facilitation of bespoke learning activities tailored to each pupil’s needs
-
Supervise students during unstructured times such as transitions, breaks, and off-site activities as required
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of pupil progress, behaviour, and achievements
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally within an SEMH or additional needs context
-
A calm, consistent, and patient approach to behaviour support
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both pupils and colleagues
-
An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the capacity to remain composed in challenging situations
-
A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people to reach their full potential
Additional Requirements:
