Learning Support Assistant
Job description
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Salisbury is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team from February 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential within a secondary school setting.
The Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN department to support students across KS3 and KS4. The role may involve providing in-class support, working with small groups, or offering targeted 1:1 support where required. The Learning Support Assistant will play a key role in promoting student engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with additional learning needs within the classroom

Assisting with the implementation of individual support strategies
-
Encouraging student participation and confidence in learning
-
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
-
Providing feedback on student progress and engagement
The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working with secondary-aged students (school-based experience desirable)

Be patient, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education
-
Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Have a genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs

This role would suit an aspiring teacher, psychology graduate, or an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking to continue their career in education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
