Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in secondary schools across Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire.
We are particularly keen to hear from Welsh-speaking candidates, especially those confident supporting learners in Welsh-medium and bilingual settings.
About the Role
As a Secondary Learning Support Assistant working through Teaching Personnel, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils aged 11–16 (KS3 & KS4).
- Support students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Work closely with subject teachers and ALNCOs to support classroom learning.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Help learners build confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Deliver support through the medium of Welsh where required.
Opportunities include day-to-day supply, short-term cover, long-term placements, and potential permanent roles.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people (school, youth work, coaching, care, or similar).
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach.
- Understanding of ALN within a secondary setting.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English/Welsh and Maths.
- Relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification (desirable).
- Welsh language skills (highly desirable).
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel).
- EWC Registration (or willingness to obtain)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
