Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time - Starting January 2025
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young people to succeed in an inclusive and nurturing secondary school environment?
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and highly inclusive secondary school in Newport, in January 2026 full-time. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting pupils aged 11-16 who require additional academic and emotional support.
You will be part of a large, community-focused school guided by the ethos “A school for all, where everyone succeeds.” The school has a strong culture of teamwork and mutual respect, with staff and pupils proud to be part of its vibrant community.
The role includes supporting the school’s well-established ALN provision, including a specialist resource base for pupils with learning difficulties, where pupils benefit from a nurturing environment and tailored support to make strong progress from their starting points.

What We’re Looking for?
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A positive, proactive, and compassionate attitude
- Experience supporting children or young people (desirable)
- The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
- Confidence in delivering structured, tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
- A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Strong communication skills to work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements (Already hold or willing to obtain at your own cost)
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- At least two professional references covering 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
