Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year
About the Role
You will be supporting young people in secondary schools across the Newport area. These pupils come from diverse backgrounds and may have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or simply require extra support to thrive in the classroom.
As a Youth Support Officer, your role is to build strong, positive relationships with students—acting as a mentor and communicating effectively to help them feel understood and supported. You will be able to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of ALN and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with students who may find traditional classroom settings difficult, offering consistent emotional and academic support throughout the school day.

Requirements
As you will be supporting young people, we will require applicants which have experience in some capacity. For example, if you have a background in Sports, Care or Youth Support and are looking to transfer your skills!
The ideal candidate will also require the following: (We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
- Aged 18 and over
- Level 2 as a minimum for Safeguarding for Children and vulnerable people
- 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period (or equivalent)
What would the onboarding process look like?

- A telephone call will be provided to talk through more detail on the role so you can establish if you wish to move forward and if the role is right for you
- If happy to proceed, you will then be invited in for interview
- If successful at interview stage, we will do all of the background work to have you cleared for work ahead of the start date

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
