About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our secondary team, providing tailored support to a student with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person’s educational journey, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a secondary-aged student with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
- Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour, and learning engagement.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to deliver a consistent and effective support plan.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student to promote self-esteem and resilience.
- Monitor and record progress, contributing to review meetings and EHCP updates where required.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or similar (e.g. youth work, mentoring, alternative provision).
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or similar) are desirable but not essential – training can be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
