We work with several specialist provisions across Frome, meaning you'll have access to a variety of SEND and SEMH settings. These schools support children and young people with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, communication barriers and behavioural challenges.

Because these assignments are often booked at short notice, we are specifically looking for experienced professionals who can hit the ground running, confidently enter new settings and quickly establish positive relationships with pupils and staff.

What Can You Expect?

Every placement brings a different experience, allowing you to develop your skills while supporting a diverse range of learners.

  • Providing classroom-based assistance during lessons
  • Delivering targeted interventions and structured activities
  • Encouraging engagement and participation in learning
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation strategies
  • Assisting learners to develop confidence and independence
  • Promoting positive behaviour approaches
  • Adapting support techniques to individual needs
  • Supporting educational visits and enrichment opportunities
  • Recording observations and progress updates
  • Helping create safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environments

Who Would Thrive in This Role?

We are looking for candidates who already have relevant experience and understand the demands of specialist education.

  • At least 6 months of experience working with children or young people
  • Previous exposure to SEND, SEMH or alternative provisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and professional attitude
  • Strong adaptability and resilience
  • Confidence working across multiple settings
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Applicants from education, residential care, youth work, mentoring, support work or therapeutic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Why Work Through Teaching Personnel?

When you join Teaching Personnel, you'll benefit from:

  • £14.25 per hour
  • Flexible part-time supply work
  • Access to multiple SEND and SEMH provisions
  • Weekly pay
  • Free CPD and specialist SEND training
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your journey
  • Pension contributions
  • Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent positions
  • Access to one of the UK's leading education recruitment networks
