SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Portsmouth – Cosham
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Contract: Term-time only | Full-time and part-time roles available

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEN school in the Portsmouth (Cosham) area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs in a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

About the Role

As an SEN LSA, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will support students with a wide range of needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement strategies
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
  • Contributing to personalised learning plans and progress tracking

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable and proactive in meeting a variety of student needs
  • Passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives

Experience in an SEN setting is beneficial, but not essential—your attitude and commitment matter most.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
