Learning Support Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time
Pay: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join welcoming and inclusive schools across Gateshead from September 2026. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Work closely with class teachers to support learning and classroom activities
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Help students achieve their individual academic and social goals
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families where appropriate

What We're Looking For

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are patient, caring, and committed to supporting individual learning needs
  • Can build positive relationships and act as a role model for pupils
  • Are enthusiastic about making a meaningful difference in education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
