KS4 SEND Support Worker
Job description
Teaching personnel are currently working with special needs school based in Tameside to find a compassionate Support Worker to assist in a KS4 classroom. The school has pupil ranging from ages 11 to 16, with moderate learning difficulties like ASC and speech, language and communication needs. You will be working mainly in classroom settings but also be assisting in individualised interventions and off-site trips.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the class staff with delivering lessons and encouraging engagement with students
- Support with behaviour management and individual learning plans
- Aid students with personal care and mobility needs when needed
- Promote pupils independence and social interaction amongst students
- Support class staff and teachers with preparation of learning materials
- Staffing support over break and lunch periods
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people with moderate and complex learning difficulties
- Experience working with challenging behaviour
- Have an excellent understanding of complex needs including but not limited to Autism, ADHD and speech and language difficulties
- Be passionate about supporting young people with life skills and academics
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
