SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Tameside

️Start date: Immediate

Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)? If you’re experienced, dedicated, and ready to start right away, we want to hear from you! We are currently looking for a passionate SEMH TA to work with one of our secondary Pupil Referral Units (PRU) in the Tameside area where you will be supporting young people who are not in mainstream education due to challenging behaviour and help them succeed in their academics and social development.

Your Role

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs with their academic and social development
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and behaviour management
  • Provide tailored interventions and one-to-one support
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt learning material and learning aids to best support the needs of every student
  • Liaise with staff team, parents and multi agencies to ensure that children’s safety and wellbeing are upheld
  • Have a vital role in preparing students for the future whether that be reintegrating in mainstream schools or moving onto college and work

✅ Requirements

  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (Update Service)
  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults with SEMH needs and Challenging behaviours.
  • Employment references covering the last 24 months
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • A proactive, resilient, and patient approach
  • Safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
