ICT teacher required for HI school

Teacher required for a residential co-educational school in Newbury. The school is a non-maintained special school providing for profoundly and severely deaf children and young people from all over the UK. It consists of around 230 pupils from year 7 to year 13.

The school are looking for a full time ICT teacher to join their expanding team and are happy to provide support and necessary training for the ideal candidate. Experience of teaching ICT from KS3-KS5 is essential.

Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with SLCN is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to this.

Candidates who are familiar with PEC’s, TEACCH system, signing (Makaton/BSL/sign-a-long) are strongly encouraged to apply as these skills will be very relevant to the role. A Team- Teach qualification or relevant moving and handling experience would be beneficial but not essential. Teaching Personnel are also able to provide a range of training; including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling.

The school are looking for teachers who are passionate in assisting children with SLCN to access the curriculum. An understanding and flexible nature is essential, and the school is particularly keen to have candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative.
