Job description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Yeovil this September.

This part-time role is ideal for someone with strong classroom experience, a passion for education, and a desire to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.


About the Role:

As an HLTA, you will take a leading role in delivering learning activities, supporting class teachers, and helping pupils reach their full potential. You may also be asked to lead small group sessions or cover classes when needed, helping maintain a positive and focused learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and interventions

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to reinforce learning

  • Assisting with behaviour management and pastoral care

  • Collaborating with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams


What We’re Looking For:

  • HLTA qualification or relevant experience in a similar role

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

  • A proactive, adaptable, and patient approach

  • Willingness to undergo safeguarding and additional training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
