Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School (Preston)
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Contract Dates: 5th January – 28th February 2026
Full-Time Position
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Preston is seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and learning across a range of subjects for a short-term, full-time contract starting in January 2026.
About the Role:
As a HLTA, you’ll play a key role in supporting students’ progress, working closely with teaching staff to deliver small group interventions, cover lessons when required, and contribute to the overall learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities to small groups or whole classes
- Support pupils with varying needs to access the curriculum
- Assist in the planning and assessment of learning activities
- Provide feedback to teachers and contribute to pupil progress tracking
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
What We’re Looking For:
- HLTA status or equivalent experience
- Previous experience working in a secondary school setting
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
