Head of Care Needed for New Residential Setting

We are seeking to appoint a caring highly motivated, experienced person to join a new provision working with learners with a have a variety of severe learning difficulties, including some with autism and/or challenging behaviour and some with serious medical conditions. The setting is a special school for pupils aged 3-19 yrs and the role will be to lead the new Residential Respite Site.

Significant experience of working in a residential children's provision is essential, as is the highest commitment to improving the lives of young people and their parents/carers. We are looking for an experienced individual with at least 5 years' experience in a residential/respite child care setting at a senior level and the ideal candidate will be flexible, caring and follow a therapeutic approach.

You will be:

  • experienced in imagining life from each individual learners' point of view
  • experienced in leadership and management in a residential child care setting.
  • passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and disabilities
  • outstanding at forming positive relationships and developing positive partnerships
  • self-motivated and driven by opportunities to make a positive difference for learners and their families
  • a highly skilled communicator
  • positive, resourceful, innovative and able to embrace change
  • skilled at managing and supporting a large team
  • have a firm understanding of the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools

This is a full time role to be worked on an annualised hours contract. Interested candidates must have the flexibility to work differing patterns according to the needs of the provision - including night awake shifts and being on call.
